The Self-Employed Occupation Permit is ideal if you want to settle in a tropical jurisdiction with reliable telecommunications networks. In addition to the opportunity to lead an active lifestyle, it also offers you the chance to provide professional services to local and international clients. However, the Self-Employed Permit will only be issued to you if you are a consultant or freelancer. For professional activities that do not fall under this category, the Investor Residence Permit is the most appropriate.

Requirements for the Self-Employed Permit:

To apply for a Self-Employed Occupation Permit, valid for 10 years and renewable thereafter, you must meet the following requirements:

You must deposit USD 35,000 (or its equivalent in the currency of your choice) in a bank account in Mauritius. These funds can then be used as you wish; to buy a vehicle, an apartment, etc.
You must generate an income of approximately USD 17,000 from the third year after obtaining the permit. (we are talking about turn-over here, not profit)

To bring your family to live with you, you can apply for a Dependent Residence Permit for them for the same duration as your Self Employed Occupation Permit.
